Tidal Angling Guide Enhanced Assessment for Challengers
Revised Challenge Application available September 2012. For more information, contact Michele Priddy at mpriddy@go2hr.ca. Interested in challenging the Tidal Angling Guide certification? Review the Tidal Angling Guide Occupational Performance Standards (OPS) (see link below) and submit a completed Tidal Angling Guide Challenge Application Package to go2. Challenge applications are assessed for proof of workplace hours and scope of experience prior to acceptance of the individual into the Challenge pathway.
The Challenge pathway for Tidal Angling Guide gives skilled workers a flexible way to obtain their trade credentials. In addition to submitting an application, the pathway involves an ITA-registered Tidal Angling Guide Assessor assessing the performance of a Tidal Angling Guide challenger, who must meet occupational performance standards set by the industry. The challenger receives certification only after demonstrating evidence of competency in these standards. This approach is referred to as Tidal Angling Guide Enhanced Assessment for Challengers.
To become certified as a Tidal Angling Guide, challengers must:
- Complete a self-assessment (submitted with the Challenge application)
- Submit a Portfolio of Evidence, which includes evidence of previous training and/or work experience, with the Challenge Application. This Portfolio is reviewed by an ITA-registered TAG Assessor
- Complete a written knowledge assessment
- Complete a competency conversation (technical interview)
ITA-registered Assessors are certified Tidal Angling Guides with minimum of 5 years experience in the trade, who have received formal training in the Enhanced Assessment process.
On completion of the assessment process, challengers receive a detailed transcript from ITA indicating whether or not the performance standards for the credential were achieved. If the Assessor identified gaps in a challenger's knowledge or skills, the challenger must upgrade their skills or knowledge in the identified areas and provide evidence that the gaps have been addressed. The challenger will then be reassessed only on the identified areas.
If you wish to challenge this certification:
- Review the supporting documentation for challengers
- Download and complete the TAG Challenge Application Package
- Submit the Challenge application package to go2 with payment of the $120.00 application fee payable to the Industry Training Authority
