About the ITA
The Industry Training Authority (ITA) is a provincial crown agency, established in 2004 and responsible for managing BC’s industry training system to develop the skilled workforce needed to ensure the competitiveness and economic prosperity of our businesses and our province.

We work collaboratively with industry, training providers, labour unions, government and other stakeholders to meet industry’s training needs while at the same time providing career development opportunities for individual British Columbians.

The ITA is governed by a nine-person Board of Directors, whose members come from diverse sectoral backgrounds and have broad expertise regarding industry needs and training approaches.

Staff working from offices in Richmond and Vancouver carry out the day-to-day work of the ITA and provide services to apprentices and sponsors, including registrations, exam coordination, assessments and certifications. These services are also available throughout the province at the 58 locations of Service BC.

Our Vision: Highly skilled and productive people making BC's industries prosperous and globally competitive

Our Mission: To lead BC’s industry skills training and certification system through collaboration and innovation .
